WHAT ARE ETHICAL SHOES?

So let's dot the “i”, ethical shoes are no more outdated than other shoes. Quite the contrary! These sneakers have much better features because they are made from bio-sourced and recycled materials. These so-called “ethical” shoes respect the environment much more by trying to reduce their ecological impact as much as possible than any other model. By using recycled materials, it saves us from creating raw material, we put it back in the circuit! We can thus speak of a circular economy; a way to produce with a more thoughtful, more responsible conscience and to avoid the waste of materials.
WHICH SUBJECTS ?
To make ethical shoes , we focused on the origin and quality of the materials we were going to use. By choosing to use recycled plastic, cork, organic cotton and seaweed, we avoid using materials such as leather that comes from animal origin! We use vegan leather . So our shoes are, in addition to being ethical, vegan shoes ! Another advantage for our bovid friends. Finally, these materials, added to the fact that they are recycled, do not languish on the comfort or breathability of our ethical sneakers, quite the contrary. But finding alternatives to the materials used in fashion has not been easy. We searched a lot to find options that suited us, whether it was for the soles or the canvas of our shoes.
Seaweed is used in the soles thanks to a foam obtained from green algae collected from lakes and rivers . Recycled plastic bottles are used to make the fabric, after a complex manufacturing process. Organic cotton is used to make the laces and cork is a component of our insole.
With the environmental challenges we are currently experiencing, it is essential to change our consumption patterns. We work every day to find even more ecological alternatives, and in particular recycled materials, because we are convinced that we can do even better.
WHY ETHICAL SHOES?
Having ethical sneakers is not an eco-boho phenomenon but only an awareness. We produce excessively in the four corners of the planet, particularly in the textile industry. The footwear industry is also one of the most polluting in the world. At SAOLA, we are aware of what nature brings us and we are committed to respecting it better. Our ecological shoes are not yet perfect but they tend to become so, or at least that is our objective! Far be it from us to alarm you, but if you share the same values as us, you will easily understand that we have to do something and now!
WHAT IMPACT DO I REALLY HAVE?
The fact of getting involved in a committed brand undoubtedly brings personal satisfaction and deciding to opt for a pair of ethical shoes is one more step towards a responsible approach. Each pair purchased contributes to the preservation of species and the ecosystem in general. We tirelessly support the Mwalu Wildlife Trust association by donating part of our turnover. These funds thus support the preservation of wild animals in Africa and the improvement of the quality of life of local populations.
